Claim to fame: Unlimited service, low rates. They’re one of two big carriers that have done cellular that way from the beginning.

Standout features: Unlimited voice service, with other services available for extra money, such as web access, mobile broadband, multimedia messaging, unlimited directory assistance, nationwide roaming minute buckets and “premium coverage area” plans

Pros: Unlimited minutes, great phone selection, tons of features, Mobile Broadband for high-speed internet wherever CricKet has coverage ($40 per month), First month of service free

Cons: Expensive phones, somewhat limited coverage without pay-per-minute roaming, overloaded network in some areas, taxes and fees (including activation in most markets) extra

Good for: Heavy talkers who stay in CricKet (or free roaming) coverage
